Obituary for Andrew Ryan "Drew" Smith

Andrew Ryan “Drew” Smith age 6 of Wixom was born July 4, 2014 in Muskegon, Michigan to Ryan Anthony and Kathryn Jane (nee: McCartney) Smith. He died March 24, 2021.

Drew is survived by his parents Ryan and Kate. Grandson of Judy (the late John) McCartney and Robert Anthony and Patricia Ann Smith. Great grandson of Dolores “Grandma Boots” Murray. Nephew of Michelle McCartney, Jeff (Molly) Barratt-McCartney, Ross (Leigh) Garrett-McCartney, Kristy (Ryan) Rude and Brandon (Rachael) Smith. Dear cousin of Victor, Hank, Ethan, Kaylee, Olivia, Sofia and Maverick.

Drew was always drawn to people.  He never met a stranger.  He always made his own introduction to anyone that would listen, which was usually unforgettable.

He was a loving, confident, energetic, bright, humorous, joyful, super star little boy.  Over the years he had many curiosities. His favorite things were art supplies, music, fruits and vegetables, Paw Patrol, Marble Run, Lego, Mario, and outer space. When he was two a special stuffed kitty came into his life that he played with and slept with every night.

Drew was a boy that would spend many of his days walking, riding his bike, and visiting all the playgrounds in the area.  He was always looking to make new friends and use up some of his everlasting energy.

He was eager to go to school starting with the Peanut Patch Preschool and moving onto Loon Lake Elementary for his kindergarten year. Even though his routine of being in the classroom was short, he enjoyed it very much.   Loon Lake playground has been a special place for Drew. We had been going there to play for a few years before starting kindergarten, and we have many great memories of our time there.  If anyone is looking to contribute on Drew's behalf the school is currently fundraising to create a walking track at the school.  Drew would have enjoyed and benefited the use of the track along with all the kids.

Throughout the year Drew looked forward to every holiday to create a celebration.  He will always be our little firecracker that was born on the Fourth of July.  He would always remind us that all fireworks on the Fourth were always for the celebration of his birthday.  Please join us in celebrating the memory of Drew.
