Obituary for Archie "Bud" James Mulholland

Archie James Mulholland was born on December 26, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan. He was the oldest child, and only son, of the late Archibald and Mary Mulholland. Archie "Bud" was a kind and gentle man who enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Following school Archie went on to serve his county during the Korean War in the US Army. He ascended to the rank of Corporal and served his country proudly as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division (All American).

After his service Archie returned to Metro-Detroit and on July 29, 1956 he married the love of his life, Virginia Sue nee Marshall. He worked for various companies over the years, retiring from Ingersoll-Rand Far East Hong Kong and Beijing. He was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to work in China for a number of years prior to retirement.

However, Archie was not one to sit idle for long. He went on to work at CVS where he enjoyed the camaraderie of his coworkers and customers. A man who loved the fresh air and sun, he combined that with his skill at baseball and played AAA Ball with the Tiger’s farm team in his younger years. His passion for sport continued throughout his life. He was a member of several bowling leagues over the years, where he could enjoy socializing and having a nice cold beer.

Archie passed peacefully surrounded by loving family on June 28, 2018 in Farmington Hills, Michigan. A kind, honorable man with a gentle soul, Archie will be deeply missed by all those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Archie was the beloved husband of Virginia Sue Mulholland, who preceded him in death on April 7, 2017. Loving father of Julie (Roy) Johnson and Abbe Mulholland. Proud grandfather of Jessi (Michael) Lanius and great-grandfather of Daven King and Jude Lanius. Dear brother of the late Barbara (the late Richard) Richards, Sandra (the late Ken) Meredyk and Cherry (Arnold) Smerecki. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
