Obituary for Beverly Jean Reynolds

Beverly Jean Reynolds of Novi was born October 21, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan to Charles Wellington and Jewell Bertha (nee: Herrick) Vines, Jr. She married Joseph Raymond Reynolds Sr. June 22, 1957. At the time she met her husband she became Catholic; she passed the Faith to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. All her life she cherished Michigan as her home where she dearly loved her roots, family and friends. To her family she was Bev, Mom, Grandma by the Lake, and Great-Grandma. She was cherished by her husband and delighted in spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Beverly was someone who saw the jest in most things. When her children teased her with some shocking or elaborate story she saw through it with a chuckled, "You lie like a rug." If she was asked, "Do you know what?" Grandma replied, "No, but I know his brother 'who'." When life gave her dentures she found it a game to pop out her teeth and see the grandkids flip and laugh. She was also known to regularly attend an evening bingo with her gals.

Grandma was always a visit, phone call or letter away. Though she never got her dream car, the 1950's Firebird, Grandma traveled the world round. Her phone calls and letters to family took her all over the United States, Canada, Europe, and the Middle East. Grandma marveled at all the places her phone calls and letters could take her. In this joy she remembered everyone's birthday, taking time to write birthday cards and slip in a five dollar bill for a birthday ice cream wherever you were. At the end of a phone call she'd say, "Scribble me some lines."

In the last months Grandma spent at Medilodge of Milford she was quick to answer her phone calls even if she could only spend a few minutes to chat before she was tired and needed a nap. Even the visits she received during this time she kept short. It was evident she was in need of much rest those last couple of months. Sometimes she even encouraged you more than you wanted that it was time to hang up the phone. So when she fell asleep that last night and fell asleep so soundly no one could wake her on September 10, 2020 at the age of 82 we can see how she has earned and needs this peaceful rest where all her awaited dreams can be realized.

Mrs. Beverly Reynolds is the beloved wife of the late Joseph Reynolds, Sr. (d. 1998).  Loving mother of Susan Jean (Tom) Godlewski, Joseph (Janette Gabel) Reynolds, Jr. and Kim Rae (Patrick) Moynihan.  Grandmother of Brenton, Jill, Brittany, Matthew, Megan, Gregory, Andi, David, Alexis, Timothy, Shannon, Andrew, Michael, Ashley, Nicole, Brian, Bernadette, Tim, Thomas, Marie, Cecilia, Philumena, Francis. Great grandmother of Jaylin, Brooklyn, Haydin, Haylie, Niviah, Theodore, Patrick, Cecelia, Peyton, Scarlett, Evelyn, Alanah, Stella, Bradlee, Elizabeth, Jayda, Evalynn, Killian, Declan, Jayden, Jacob, Connor, Christofer, Maylise, Ciaran, Isabella, Luca. Preceded in death by her siblings Charlene (Butch) Gentry and Charles Wellington (Maureen)Vines, III.  She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
