Obituary for Christopher Scott Moersch

Christopher Scott Moersch, 51 of Bloomington, Illinois was born on July 23, 1969 in Livonia, Michigan to Thomas and Charlene Couch Moersch. After a long struggle with mental illness and depression, Chris went home to see the Lord on Friday, December 11, 2020.

In 1978, the Moersch family moved to Wolverine Lake, Michigan where Chris shared many memories with his family and friends. During his childhood, Chris was a member of the St. William Parish and he was very active with the church youth group where he made lifelong friends. Chris graduated from Walled Lake Western in 1987. He continued his education at Central Michigan University and moved on to the University of Michigan in which he earned his Bachelor and Master’s degree in Education. Chris started his career as a high school Spanish/English teacher. He then moved on to working in training. This led him to his most recent job with State Farm, which in turn brought him to Bloomington, Illinois. He met his children’s mother, Katie, and started a family. In 2010 he welcomed his first daughter, Annie, and in 2012 his second daughter, Ellie. Chris lived and breathed for his two girls. He always said that they were his greatest accomplishments. He enjoyed music, reading, politics, traveling, boating and spending time on the lake where he grew up with family and friends. He was an advocate fan of the University of Michigan, he bled maze and blue. Chris will be remembered for his love he had for his family and the laughter and joy he brought to everyone he met.

Chris is the beloved son of Thomas and Charlene Couch Moersch of Walled Lake, Michigan. He was a loving and dedicated father to his two daughters Annie and Ellie Moersch of Peoria, Illinois. He also leaves his two sisters Stacey Giles (Dave) of Highland, Michigan, and Corrie Cannon of Commerce Twp., Michigan; nieces Samantha and Jordan Cannon and nephew Dakota Giles; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family and friends. Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Marion Couch, Kenneth and Loretta Moersch; several aunts and uncles, and two cousins, Jenny and Carin.
