Obituary for Donald George Olszewski

Donald George Olszewski was born on January 30, 1940 in Garden City, Michigan to the late Henry and Helen Olszewski. He passed away on January 15, 2020 in Wixom, Michigan at the age of 79.

Don was a jack of all trades who loved to keep busy. He owned and operated a garage door business for 40 years, but his true passion lay on the water. He served in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and owned and operated several marina’s throughout the years. He loved working as a charter fisherman, which allowed him to share his passion with others. A man with a big heart, Don was known as Mr. Balloon throughout the area for his balloon animals he would make for the kids. A true jack of all trades, he was also a pilot, scuba diver and jeweler. If there was anything that needed to be done, Don was your go to man. He will be deeply missed by all those who were lucky enough to have known him.

Don was the loving father of Crystal (Emery) Sears, Steven (Lisa) Bond, David (Kelly) Olszewski and Dawn (Edward) Brusseau. Proud grandpa of Edward and Marcella Brusseau and David, Rachel, Naomi and Eli Olszewski. Cherished brother of Stanley (Sylvia) Olszewski, Kathleen Jesselson and the late Judith Chapple.

A Mass will be held at 10 am, on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at St. William Catholic Church, 531 Common St. (at Pontiac Trail) in Walled Lake.

A memorial service will also be held in Manistee at a later date, following which Don will be laid to rest with his family at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn Heights, Michigan.
