Obituary for Dorothy A. Puddy

Dorothy A. Puddy of Novi was born July 3, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan to George and Ethel M. (nee: Ford) Nicholas. She died January 31, 2021 at the age of 85.

Mrs. Puddy is the beloved wife of 66 years to George R. Puddy. Loving mother of Richard (Kim) Puddy, Anne (Stephen) Dean and Mark (Debra “Sue”) Puddy. Grandmother of Brandon Puddy and Heather (Ben) Kruszynski. Dear sister of Albert (Sue) Nicholas and the late Shirley Nicholas (d. May 10, 1939). Sister in law of Betty (the late Reginald) Snively. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Mrs. Puddy was born at home in Detroit and was a 1953 graduate of Detroit Mackenzie High School. That same year she met her future husband George while attending Zoller Gospel Tabernacle in Detroit. They married one year later in 1954 and settled in Berkley where they started their family. In addition to Southfield and Berkley, Mr. and Mrs. Puddy lived in Waterford, and most recently, Novi.

Mrs. Puddy had a strong faith and a love of God. During her life she was active at many churches including the First Baptist Church of Pontiac and more recently, the First Baptist Church of Wixom. She was a devoted wife and mother who proudly raised her three children and who often put her husband’s and children’s needs first. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Due to the current restrictions of public gatherings, funeral services will be held in private with the immediate family at First Baptist Church of Wixom with interment to follow at Milford Memorial Cemetery. A public celebration of life will be held on Saturday February 20th, greet the family at 10:30 and service to begin at 11AM.. In lieu of flowers, donations to the First Baptist Church of Wixom Memorial Fund are appreciated.
