Obituary for Eva Kozak

Eva Kozak was born March 1, 1925 to Mykhaylo and Maria Dutka in Buchach, Ukraine.  She died January 16, 2021 at the age of 95.

Mrs. Kozak is the loving mother of Natalie (Berardo) Capicchioni, Terry (Michelle) Kozak, late Irena (Richard) Ziemann. Devoted Grandmother of Larissa (Luke) Martin, Ludmilla Ziemann, Matteo Capicchioni, Giuliano Capicchioni, Chandler Kozak and  Cameron Kozak.  Proud Great grandmother of Ella, Madelyn and Joseph.  She is survived by her special niece Nelia (Russell) Ebbing and her daughter Yana Ebbing.  She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews in Ukraine.

Eva was born on March 1, 1925 to Mykhaylo and Maria Dutka in a small village in Buchach, Ukraine. Her mother passed when she was only four years old. Her father became her world. He used to talk of the America with “streets paved of gold”. He would read articles from Ukrainian papers to her and she would dream of this free and beautiful land. Little did she know that she would be taken from her village at the age of 16 to Germany to work on a farm during World War II never to see her family again. With many different trials and tribulations along the way, her dream became a reality. She was able to immigrate to United States as the war was ending with the support of the U.S. Army. Here she raised her family so that we could have a better life and all the opportunities America had to offer. She was an intensely faith filled woman and led all of us to follow in our Lord’s footsteps. Eva had a passion for reading, gardening, cooking, embroidering and, of course, praying. Her talents showed everyone her true, beautiful spirit. We love you Mama! Thank you for all you have done for us. We will miss you deeply.
