Obituary for Fred Samuel Lee
LEE, Fred Samuel of Walled Lake and Farmington Hills, born January 7, 1920 to Fred and Gertrude Lee of Redford, MI went to be with his Heavenly Father March 17, 2017. Preceded in death by his beloved wife Evelyn J. Lee, infant son Larry, daughter Valerie and brother Edwin ”Bud” Lee. Survived by daughters Karen (Ron) Sparks of Coopersville, Debbie Lee of Farmington Hills, and son-in-law Tobby Wheelis (Valerie) of Farmington Hills. Five grandchildren Ryan (Joy), Jacob (Jill) Sparks, both of Allendale, Bonnie (Joan) Sanchez, of MD, Steve (Elizabeth) Wheelis of Milford, Tim (Nikki) Wheelis of SC, 15 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends. Fred graduated from Walled Lake High School, Central Michigan Univ. and served as a Naval Officer in WWII. He was a teacher, coach, athletic director spanning 33 years at East Detroit Public Schools and was honored by being inducted into 3 sports halls of fame and named Michigan High School Coach of the Year in 1966. Viewing at Lynch and Sons Funeral home, 340 Pontiac Trail, Walled Lake, MI March 20, 3-9 p.m.& at Market St. Church (formerly First Baptist) 309 Market St. Tues.
