Obituary for George Colles Valentine

George Colles Valentine of Novi, formerly of Birmingham, was born April 5, 1922 in Richmond, Indiana to Edward John and Anna (nee: Richards) Valentine. He died May 22, 2017 at the age of 95.

Mr. Valentine is the beloved husband of 64 years to Betsy Valentine. Loving father of John (Linda) Valentine of Tacoma, Washington., Susan (Jonathan) Wood of Madison, Connecticut and Libby Valentine of Aston, Pennsylvania. Grandfather of Alexander Wood of Madison, Connecticut. Dear brother of the late William R. Valentine. He is also survived by one niece and two nephews.

Mr. Valentine was a career Army officer from WWII until he retired as a Lt. Col. in 1964. He served in Japan, Germany, and Korea as well as many assignments in the U.S. Then he taught chemistry at Seaholm High School in Birmingham until 1988. He loved sailing, woodworking, photography, electronics, history, classical music and was especially fond of cats. 

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Christ Church Cranbrook, 470 Church Rd, Bloomfield Hills, with a reception to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Church Cranbrook or the Fox Run Scholarship Fund and will be appreciated. Serving the family Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, Walled Lake.
