Obituary for John V. Momberg

John V. Momberg was born on October 21, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Charles and Margaret Momberg. He passed away on May 31, 2019 in Wixom, Michigan at the age of 80.

John was a longtime Wixom resident. He provided for his family as a supervisor with GM Cadillac Motor Car for over 30 years, but his calling was serving the community he loved. John served as the Wixom Parks and Recreation Director, City Councilman and was involved in numerous community service initiatives throughout the years. A Wixom resident since 1971, he was proud to serve the city and community he loved.

Although John had a love for Michigan, his love did not include winter. John and Rae decided that a place in Naples, Florida was the perfect spot to spend the last 15 winters. Their Royal Wood neighborhood was the perfect place to enjoy warm weather, play golf and continue his passion to serve the community.

John was a kind hearted, loving and generous man who will be deeply missed by all those who were fortunate enough to have known him. He was the loving husband of Rae for 56 years. Cherished father of Gavin (Michele), Brian, and Jennifer (Michael Kennelly). Proud grandpa of Morgan, Mikaela, Kira and Samantha. Dear brother of George (the late Nancy).

John’s life will be celebrated with a Funeral Mass on Monday, June 17, 2019 at St. Mary, Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Milford at 10:30 am. Friends may visit the church beginning at 10 am.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are appreciated to Angela Hospice or Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
