Obituary for John William Kassner

John William Kassner was born July 10, 1951, in Lapeer, Michigan to the late Fred and Eleanor Kassner. He died July 17, 2017 in Livonia, MI of Lewy Body’s Dementia.

John was blessed with an array of talents. He was the youngest award winning film producer in Michigan. He accompanied that with some professional photography. He graduated from MSU with a degree in Radio and TV, with a minor in computer programming. He became a private pilot, and in addition to flying around Michigan, he drove all around the country, and lived in 6 states--leaving his heart in Montana where he created and edited TV commercials. He was an Inn keeper at the top of a mountain in Mill Valley, California for 8 years where he was loved and honored by the members/friends. He loved nature and was an avid hiker in the mountains. He was a gifted play by ear pianist.

John was child-like with his silly humor, fun surprises and quirks. He was often a spontaneous, creative, fun-loving soul with a penchant for adventure. He was a loyal friend. He loved making films with friends and family.

He was a free spirit and will be joining his parents, two nephews (Bobby and Ethan Marijanovich), and many others on the other side. He is survived by his sisters Krista (Gary) Johnson, Karen (Bob) Marijanovich and Kimberly (Peter) Earley, as well as nephews Zachary (Jennifer) and Caleb Johnson, Jordan Earley and, Michael Marijanovich and his one and only niece, Hannah (Michael) Truskoski.

Celebration of Life for Close friends and family at Bayside Sports Grille in Walled Lake on July 29. Please call Karen at 248-330-4871 or Kimberly at 248-752-0602 for details.
