Obituary for Lawrence Dan Carroll

Lawrence Dan Carroll of Milford was born November 21, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan to Lawrence Everett and Edith (nee: Delaney) Carroll. He died April 9, 2020 at the age of 88.

Mr. Carroll is the loving father of Brian (Katherine) Carroll and Sherry (Steven) White. Grandfather of Brian Ogilvie, Steven White, Jr., Chelsea (Eric) Pettigrew, Daniel (Alexandria) White, Michael (Shelby) Carroll and Taylor Carroll. Great grandfather of Natalee, Amelia, Maggie, Everlee and Logan. Dear brother of Timothy (Christine) Carroll. Preceded in death by his 5 sisters Betty, Lois, Evelyn, Nancy and MaryAnn, and his brother Arthur. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Larry loved life. Born during the depression he grew up learning the value of money and hard work. He served during the Korean War in the Navy on the U.S.S. Pritchett which survived a torpedo strike. He had a passion for sports, he was a champion boxer in the Navy, played baseball, football, coached Little League teams and was an avid fan of the Red Wings, Tiger, Wolverines and was still waiting for the Lions to win the Super Bowl. He was a proud Irishman who loved to sing and dance. He was a great father, grandfather and great grandfather who showed love, respect and always putting others first were a priority. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church where he loved to attend to worship God until he could no longer. The most respected attribute of his life was be kind. “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.” No one can remember him saying a negative word about anyone. We love and will miss his presence in our lives.

Private graveside services will be held at Walled Lake Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date due to the current restrictions of public gatherings in place due to the COVID -19 Virus.

Memorials in Mr. Carroll’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
