Obituary for Micki Eckley

Micki Lou Eckley, 8/24/51 - 11/26/2020

Micki Eckley moved on to her next adventure in the universe on November 26th. She was surrounded and encased in love and support by everyone who knew her. Micki’s life would seem short to many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. She will be remembered for her ready smile, quick wit, thoughtful insight and compassion toward others.

Micki was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Mary Jane and Rick Gregory. She and her siblings, Patty Berry and Rick Gregory grew up in Santa Fe, NM. Micki met her beloved husband, Paul Eckley, in Boston, MA. They spent 43 years loving, living and working together while raising their daughter, Whisper Gregory Andrusiak. Their family grew with her marriage to Ron E Andrusiak allowing Micki to become Mimi. She was the director of adventure and dearly loved by her grandchildren, Ava and Lila Andrusiak. While Micki was entirely devoted to caring for her family, she also was a gifted and award winning artist. Her work hangs in many private and public collections. Micki had a connection to the energy of the earth and often felt things that others couldn’t. Animals were always attracted to her and she found stewardship in their company. She will be laid to rest in The Preserve, a natural prairie setting, at All Saints Cemetery.

To keep everyone safe, her memorial service will be online. (LINK

Micki would not want us to dwell in sadness but instead would want us to celebrate her life. Your greatest gift to us would be to share a story or meaningful moment/memory that you have about her or to do something unexpectedly kind toward someone who needs it as she would. While we cannot be together in person, we all know the power of Micki’s spirit will connect us. And remember, as she would say, In all things give thanks.

“Unexpected kindness is the most powerful, least costly, and most underrated agent of human change” - Bob Kerrey
