Obituary for Norma Dean Harden

Norma Dean Harden was born on May 27, 1922 in Paducah, Kentucky to the late Zelner and Mary Taylor. She passed away on January 17, 2019 in Bay City, Michigan at the age of 96.

Norma moved to Walled Lake in 1985 and quickly became a valued member of the community. Her love of learning, preservation and history led her to be a member of the Friends of the Walled Lake Library, the Foster House Project and the Sand Hill Chapter of the Quester’s, where she delighted in taking part of their yearly fashion show. A devote Christian, she was an active member of Crossroads Presbyterian Church for many years. With a strong sense of civic duty she volunteered at voting precinct on election days.

Norma also stayed active with friends and family. She had a group of friends from High School which she would meet with regularly to play pinochle, always taking turns on who would host. When her children were younger she was a Den Mother and Girl Scout Troop Leader for many years as well.

Norma was the loving wife of the late Charles R. Harden for 33 years. He preceded her in death in 1978. Beloved mother of the late MaryAnn (John) Skrabut , Ed (Jan) Harden and Janet Harden. Proud grandma Susan (Mike) Schawinsky, Timothy (Michelle) Harden and Mark Skrabut and great-grandma of Joseph "JW" and Henry Schawinsky and Jillian, Abby and Cameron Harden.

Mrs. Harden’s life will be celebrated with a Funeral Service on Monday, January 21, 2019 at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 340 N. Pontiac Trail (3 blocks south of Maple Rd) in Walled Lake. Friends may visit the funeral home beginning at 10 am on Monday.

Norma will be laid to rest with Charles at Parkview Memorial Park in Livonia, Michigan.
