Obituary for Paul Louis Terzano

Paul Louis Terzano was born on April 28, 1950 in Detroit, Michigan. He was the oldest child of the late Frank and Virginia Terzano. Paul passed away on October 19, 2019 at the age of 69.

Paul had a passion for helping others that extended to every aspect of his life. As a teacher and culinary expert who studied locally and in France, Paul spent 45 years as a culinary instructor at Oakland Technical Center. In retirement, he continued to help educate children filling in as a substitute teacher at Notre Dame Preparatory and volunteering with their sports programs. Even after all his children graduated, Paul continued to volunteer and help out whenever he was needed.

A devote Catholic, Paul was an active parishioner of St. William Catholic Church in Walled Lake and member of their Dad’s Club, Knights of Columbus and R.O.M.E.O. Club. There was seldom an event hosted by the Dad’s Club or Knights of Columbus that he did not volunteer for.

When not helping others, Paul found solace at the family farm in Custer, Michigan. There he enjoyed the simple things and being able to unwind with his family. He often referred to the farm as his “Happy Place”. Many joyful times and fond memories were shared there with his family.

Paul was the cherished husband of Laurie for 29 years. Proud father of Daniel, David, Anna and John Paul. Dear brother of John (Marianne), Mary Jo Winkler, Carolyn DeVore, Anthony (Cindy), the late August Michael, Virginia, Delfina (Rich) Wirsu and Margarita (Gary) Thomas.Paul was preceded in death by his parents Virginia and Frank Terzano. He is also survived by his beloved mother-in-law Hazel Thomas and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He will be deeply missed by all those who were lucky enough to have known him.

The Terzano family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, October 25, 2019 from 3-8 pm with a Rosary 7 pm, at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 340 N. Pontiac Trail in Walled Lake.

His life will be celebrated with a Funeral Mass on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 10 am at St. William Catholic Church, 531 Common St. in Walled Lake. Friends may visit the church beginning at 9:30 am.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to St. Patrick’s Senior Center in Detroit or the American Red Cross. The Terzano family would also encourage those who are able to donate blood to the American Red Cross and register on BeTheMatch.org for bone marrow transplants.
