It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert “Bud” Anthony Jenkins. He passed away in his home, surrounded by family, at 3:06 in the afternoon on February 14th, 2021 at 81 years old.
He is survived by: his wife, Gloria Kelly Jenkins; two daughters, Lisa (Paul) Robertson and Lynn (Kevin) Buck; five grandchildren, Amanda (David) Adkins, Erik (Kaitlyn) Robertson, Ashley Robertson, Alyson Buck and Avery Buck; and four great grandchildren, Elizabeth Adkins, Leeland Adkins, Kacey Robertson, and Kinsley Robertson. Bud is predeceased by a daughter, Lori Akenbrandt; and two siblings Michael Jenkins and Arlene Spiteri.
Bud leaves behind memories and stories that will be told for the years to come. He was born on October 14th, 1939 to Harold and Genevieve Jenkins and also raised by Bernice and Jack Manchester. He grew up in Detroit, MI. He served in the United States Army and when honorably discharged he took employment at Kelsey Hayes for 35 years, retiring in 1994. He always had a young spirit, causing trouble anywhere he could. He always had a smile on his face, even until the last few days of his life. He loved to tease his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was known for kicking his kids in the behind or poking them in the nose. He had a love for classic cars, specifically his 1968 Ford Mercury Cougar. He also loved our trips to Lafayette Coney Island, followed by Dairy Queen. One of the fondest memories Bud has with his family is the tradition of Christmas Eve. It was not Christmas Eve without his singing, dancing Santa Claus hat. He truly was the family’s secret Santa Claus, and his young spirit also loved everything Disney.
He was a devoted husband and father. Words cannot describe his love for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. The bond he had with his family was unbreakable. May he Rest In Peace.
A private funeral mass will be held with his family only at St. Genevieve-St. Maurice Catholic Church in Livonia.
