Roger Allen Archer, Jr. of Commerce Township was born October 11, 1961 in Wiesbaden, Germany to Roger Allen and Paige Leila (nee: Reid) Archer, He died May 19, 2021 at the age of 59.

Allen is the beloved husband of 20 years to Julie (nee: Weigold). Loving father of Sydney Archer, Johnny Archer and Sadie Archer. He is survived by his father Roger Allen Archer and his siblings Michael (Stephanie) Archer and Kim Archer. He is the dear uncle of Joe (Gaya), Nick (Kate), Jacob, Tate and Mia. Dear son in law of John (the late Marie) Weigold and brother in law of Eric Weigold.

Allen loved life. He was born in Germany on October 11, 1961. Growing up in military family, he embraced moving to Japan and Nebraska before his family settled in Virginia, where he spent most of his youth. He graduated from Tabb High School in Yorktown, Virginia where played basketball and was a member of the chorus. Tabb is where he met many of his life long best friends.

Allen moved to Michigan in 1996 where he began his teaching career at Clifford Smart Middle School. While he was teaching, he also coached track, where he met his wife Julie at a track meet when she was coaching the opposing track team. Working his way up, he found his true calling as a principal at Dunckel Middle School and most recently at Warner Middle School where he was loved by staff & students alike. Allen loved his job as a principal and his leadership with his joyful, infectious personality was felt by all students and faculty he worked with over the years. His staff & students were truly his family.

Everyone who knew Allen knows how fun-loving and loud his personality was. He was always the life of the party and many joked that you could always hear him before you could see him. He loved singing and dancing any chance he got and was a huge lover of The Grateful Dead. He loved playing cards, especially Euchre. When the weather was nice, he was either on the golf course or spending time with his family. Allen’s children were his pride and joy and he always enjoyed going to Sydney’s cheerleading competitions, coaching Johnny’s sports teams, and watching Sadie star in theatre productions. Allen’s legacy will live on through his children and Julie, his wife of 20 years and the love of his life.
