Obituary for Sharon Ann Godfrey

Sharon Ann Godfrey (Alvord) was born in Spring Arbor, Michigan on December 4, 1942 to Donovan and Vivian Alvord. She peacefully passed away on June 25, 2021 at the age of 78. Proceeded in death by her parents, and a niece Valerie Estry. Sharon was a loving wife to Michael for 56 years; mother of Dianna (Todd) Diffenderfer, Danielle Godfrey-Turner, Donna (Jay) Harrison, and Dawn (Kevin) Heck. Grandmother to Shelby, Daniel, Thomas and Sean Diffenderfer; Rachael and Emily Turner; Julia and Abby Vannatter; Cooper, Hogan, AJ and Jameson Heck. Great Grandmother to Riley and Orion. Sister to Virginia Rohraff and sister-in-law to Patrick (Bridget) Godfrey. Aunt to Cindy (Rick) Glover; Evan, Emma, Daniel and Patrick Godfrey. Sharon is also survived by many cousins and dear friends.

Sharon graduated from Ferris State School of Pharmacy, where she met Michael, and was a Pharmacist for over 40 years. She served the Saint William Catholic community since 1966 in many functions; bell choir, counter, funeral luncheon committee, and Rosary Altar Society. She served her community as a leader in the Girl Scouts of America, St Vincent DePaul, volunteer at Hospitality House and raised thousands of dollars for the American Cancer Society through Relay for Life. Sharon blessed others with her talents, making bead socks and crocheting beautifully comforting blankets for her grandchildren and new babies all around. Sharon welcomed all into her home, making them feel like one of the family. She enjoyed the many activities at Multi Lake Conservation Association. Mike and Sharon traveled America to see their kids and grandkids activities, also enjoyed many destinations with family and friends. Sharon looked forward to entertaining for holidays, family celebrations, and the Wolverine Lake Tiki Night. She loved to garden and enjoyed their on Wolverine Lake.

Funeral mass from St. William Catholic Church, 531 Common Street Walled Lake Wednesday 10 AM (In State 9:30 AM). Interment Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens, Novi. Friends may visit Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 340 N. Pontiac Trail Walled Lake (3 Blks. S. of Maple Rd.) Monday 4-8 PM and Tuesday 3-8 PM(Vigil Service 7 PM).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sharon’s name to Hospitality House of Walled Lake, Rogel Cancer Center at University of Michigan, St Vincent DePaul at St William, or American Cancer Society.
