Obituary for Stephanie Kozlowski

Stephanie Kozlowski (Krolczyk) was born in Ochotnica Dolna, Poland on January 1, 1945 to Joseph and Josephine Krolczyk. She peacefully passed away on June 28, 2021 at the age of 76. Preceded in death by her parents, sisters in law Wanda Kapala, Jean Reamsma, and Theresa Kozlowski, brothers in law Hank Reamsma, Andrew Kwak, Piotr Gron, Edward Kozlowski, and niece Tina Wilson. Stephanie was a loving wife to Henry for 56 years, mother of Susan (Paul) Jergens and Patricia (Victor) Ptak. Grandmother to Alex Ptak, Eric Jergens, Ryan Jergens and Garrett Ptak. Sister to Joseph Krolczyk, Mary Gron and Jan Kwak. Aunt to many nieces and nephews. In addition she is also survived by many cousins, great nieces and nephews, and friends in America, Poland, Canada, and Hong Kong. Best friends to Danuta Kapustij and Zosia Kudelko.

Growing up near her little village, which is nestled in the foothills of the Tatry mountain range, her childhood trek to school sparked a deep love of hiking and walking in nature that lasted throughout Stephanie's life. She spent her teen years helping her family with their farm and was invited to America by her Aunt, who owned a catering business. She met Henry at a wedding and they got married January 8, 1966. She was a protective and dedicated mother, tirelessly sewing dance costumes, cooking enormous amounts of food for family parties and ensuring that her children achieved higher education. Stephanie held a special place in her heart for her son in laws, always supporting them and took pride in their accomplishments. She adored her grandsons and showered them with love and affection.

Stephanie loved her friends and family very much and enjoyed making bread, desserts, reading, working out and volunteering at church in the funeral lunch committee and caring for the homeless at Holy Family, her former parish. She worked for the US Government for over 20 years, and made many friendships that lasted throughout her days. She would want to be remembered for her zest for life, her love of God, her dedication to her family, her laugh, her flowers and her smile. She fought a long battle against an aggressive, inoperable brain tumor and survived well past the norm. She was blessed to be supported and cared for by her family until the end.

Funeral mass at St. William Catholic Church, 531 Common Street Walled Lake Saturday 10 AM (In State 9:30 AM). Interment at Wixom Cemetery. Visitation at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 340 N. Pontiac Trail Walled Lake Friday, family 2 pm, friends and family 3-8 PM (Rosary 7 PM).

In lieu of flowers, donations made to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Stephanie’s memory would be greatly appreciated.
