Obituary for Walter Mackey

Walter Mackey of West Bloomfield was born February 10, 1922 in Cambridge Massachusetts to Hamilton and Claire (nee: Bedore) Mackey. He died February 8, 2013 at age 90.

Walter is the beloved husband of 66 years to Shirley (nee: Jennens).
Loving father of: Sheryl (Enrique) Urdaneta, Judy (Mike) Heneka, John (Carla) Mackey, Janet (Don) Lawson, Dean (Kristin) Mackey, and Scott (Mary) Mackey. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Mr. Mackey grew up in Detroit and was a 1940 graduate of Detroit Mackenzie High School. Upon graduation he entered the United States Army and fought during WWII. He returned home and he and Shirley dated until they married in 1946. During this time he began working for the automotive industry and throughout his life worked for all of the Big Three, later moving on to become a manufacturer’s representative selling interior components. They started their family while living in Detroit and later moved to Redford Twp. and eventually settled in West Bloomfield. Mr. Mackey was a lifelong active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Funeral from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 33900 W. 13 Mile Rd. Farmington Hills (Between Drake and Farmington Roads) Wednesday 11 AM. (In State 10 AM). Interment Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens, Novi. Friends may visit Lynch & Sons Funeral Home N. 340 Pontiac Trail Walled Lake (3 Blks. S. of Maple Rd.) Tuesday 4-8 PM. Memorials to Henry Ford Hospice appreciated.
