Obituary for William Bernard Meyers

William Bernard Meyers of Grosse Pointe Woods, formerly of Orchard Lake, was born February 1, 1939 in New York, New York to Henry and Fanny (nee: Brand) Meyerowitz. He died August 9, 2017 at the age of 78.

Mr. Meyers is the beloved husband of 55 years to Carol Ann (nee: Rosboril) Meyers. Loving father of Bill (Gayle) Meyers and Holly (Tom) Ensor. Grandfather of Kate, Annie and Colton. Step grandfather of Tom. Preceded in death by his sister Ruth (the late Robert) Hauben. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Bill left New York in the late 1950s and headed to Cleveland, where he met Carol Rosboril. They married in 1961 and had two children, Bill and Holly.

As an insurance industry executive for most of his adult life, he and Carol traveled extensively and made many close friends all over the country. Some of the bonds that they formed early in Bill's career remain their strongest relationships today.

In addition to their home in Orchard Lake, they loved the Palm Springs area and made Rancho Mirage their second home for almost thirty years.

There were three constants in their life regardless of locale- great food and wine, great friends, and golf!

Bill was an avid golfer. He was a long-time member of Edgewood Country Club in Michigan, and Mission Hills Country Club in California.

Bill was also a devoted and knowledgeable sports fan who reveled in the nuances of the game. He never missed an MSU basketball game and even got the staff at the U of M Bone Marrow Transplant unit to watch the Spartan games with him while he recovered in 2014.

Spending time with his family and friends was another great pleasure. Watching his grandchildren in sporting events and plays, getting together in Rancho Mirage and spending summers on the lake in South Haven were some of his most cherished moments.

He will be greatly missed, but our hearts are filled with wonderful memories.

Memorial service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home 340 N. Pontiac Trail Walled Lake (3 Blks. S. of Maple Rd.) Sunday August 20, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Friends may visit from 10:00 AM until time of service.

Memorial contributions to the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center for Bone Marrow Transplant Research appreciated.
