Obituary for Florence Mae Scott

Florence Mae Scott of Walled Lake was born November 19, 1925 in Harrisburg, Illinois to William and Dorothy A. (nee: Eddy) Aluzas. She died March 29, 2020 at the age of 94.

Mrs. Scott is the beloved wife of 41 years to the late John “Bob” Scott (d. 1992). Loving mother of Peggy (John) Snedden and Marsha Scott. Grandmother of Lindsey Snedden and Tyler (Samantha) Snedden. Dear sister of Peggy (the late Hugh) McDole. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Florence Scott, née Aluzas, grew up as part of a large family in Harrisburg, IL. After graduating high school, she worked as a telephone operator before marrying Bob Scott in 1951. They moved to Walled Lake, Michigan shortly afterward, buying a house near her sister Peggy McDole and husband Hugh.

Florence and Bob had two children, Peggy and Marsha. Florence was a loving wife and mother, an excellent baker who specialized in homemade bread and cinnamon rolls. Bob passed away in 1992. Florence remained active, living in her home with her daughter Marsha until October 2019 when she fell and injured her neck. Afterward she required more extensive care and moved to Courtyard Manor Assisted Living in Farmington Hills where she resided until her death on March 29, 2020.

She will be remembered as loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Smiling and kind, and a devout Christian, she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. We feel fairly certain that heaven will now be filled with the fragrance of her wonderful cinnamon rolls.

A funeral mass will be held at a later date due to the current restrictions of public gatherings in place due to the Corona Virus.
